HOW OUR TREATMENTS MAY HELP

;

Relieve Muscle Tension & Discomfort

Massage and Myotherapy may help reduce muscular soreness and the feeling of tightness associated with work, exercise, prolonged positions and everyday physical demands.

;

Support Exercise Recovery

Sports and Remedial Massage may help manage post-exercise soreness and make movement feel more comfortable between training sessions. Treatment should work alongside appropriate recovery, nutrition, sleep and training-load management.

;

Build Physical Capacity

Myotherapy may include mobility and strengthening exercises to help you gradually rebuild the capacity required for work, sport and daily life.
;

Improve comfortable movement

Hands-on treatment and mobility exercises may help when stiffness or discomfort is restricting activities such as bending, lifting, reaching, walking or exercising.
;

Support the management of recurring pain

Pain that keeps returning is not always caused by one tight muscle or one simple fault.

Myotherapy considers your symptoms alongside factors such as:

  • Physical workload
  • Training changes
  • Strength and conditioning
  • Previous injury
  • Movement confidence
  • Sleep and recovery
  • General health

The aim is to identify which factors are most relevant and develop a practical managementplan.

WHAT TYPES OF  TREATMENT PROVIDED

Each service has a different focus. The best choice will depend on whether you are looking for relaxation, targeted treatment, exercise recovery or a broader assessment and rehabilitation plan.

;

Remedial Massage

  • May be suitable for:
    • Localised muscular soreness
    • Neck and shoulder tension
    • General back discomfort
    • Physical work-related tightness
    • Tension-related headaches
    • Reduced comfortable movement
  • What to Expect: Remedial Massage is a targeted form of soft-tissue treatment.

    Your massage therapist will discuss your symptoms and focus treatment on the areas most relevant to your presentation. Techniques may include soft-tissue massage, trigger-point treatment, myofascial techniques and stretching.

    The aim is to help reduce muscular discomfort, improve comfortable movement and support your return to normal activity.
;

Sports Massage

  • May be suitable for:
    • Athletes and active individuals
    • Gym members
    • Runners
    • People managing post-training soreness
    • Preparation between training sessions or competitions
    • Recovery from demanding physical activity
  • What to Expect: Sports Massage focuses on the muscles and areas most affected by your training or sport.

    Treatment may help reduce the feeling of post-exercise soreness and tightness, maintain comfortable movement and support recovery between training sessions.

    Sports Massage does not replace appropriate training, sleep, nutrition or injury rehabilitation. If you are managing a diagnosed injury, treatment may also need to be coordinated with your Physiotherapist, doctor, coach or rehabilitation provider.
;

Myotherapy and Exercise Rehabilitation

  • May be suitable for:
    • Recurring muscular tightness
    • Persistent musculoskeletal pain
    • Joint stiffness
    • Symptoms that repeatedly return with work or exercise
    • Reduced confidence with movement
    • A structured return to activity
  • What to Expect: Myotherapy combines hands-on treatment with a broader assessment of your symptoms, movement, physical demands and goals.

    Depending on your presentation and preferences, treatment may include Remedial Massage, dry needling, stationary or sliding myofascial cupping, joint mobilisation, mobility exercises, strengthening, exercise rehabilitation, and activity or load-management advice.

    The aim is not only to provide temporary relief. Myotherapy also considers the factors that may be contributing to recurring symptoms, such as reduced strength, changes in workload, incomplete rehabilitation or difficulty tolerating certain activities.

    Where required, your Myotherapist may recommend assessment by a Physiotherapist, GP or another appropriate health professional.

;

Relaxation Massage

  • May be suitable for:
    • General stress
    • Nervous tension
    • Whole-body relaxation
    • Mild muscular tightness
    • Time away from a busy routine
  • What to Expect: Relaxation Massage uses smooth, calming techniques designed to promote physical relaxation and reduce general muscular tension.

    The focus is less clinical and more centred on comfort, relaxation and overall wellbeing.

MYOTHERAPY TREATMENT OPTIONS

Your treatment will be based on your assessment, preferences and goals. Not every client requires every technique.

;

Remedial & Sports Massage

Targeted manual techniques may be used to reduce muscular discomfort and help movement feel easier.

Treatment pressure can be adjusted to suit your preferences. Effective treatment does not always need to be extremely deep or painful.

;

Myofascial Cupping

Myofascial cupping uses plastic or glass cups to apply suction to the skin and superficial tissues.

Cups may remain stationary or be moved across the skin with massage oil. Some clients find cupping temporarily reduces the feeling of muscular tightness or makes movement feel more comfortable.

Cupping can leave temporary circular marks or skin discolouration. These marks do not represent toxins leaving the body or indicate the severity of a problem.

;

Dry Needling

Dry needling involves inserting fine, sterile, single-use needles into selected muscular areas.

It may be considered for local muscular pain, sensitivity or tightness. Some clients experience short-term pain relief or easier movement following treatment.

Dry needling is optional and will only be performed after the treatment, potential benefits and possible side effects have been explained.

It does not replace exercise rehabilitation or guarantee that symptoms will not return.

;

Joint Mobilisation

Joint mobilisation uses controlled, low-velocity movements to help improve comfortable joint movement.

It may be used when stiffness is limiting movement or preventing progression into exercise.

Joint mobilisation does not permanently realign joints or place them back into position.

;

Exercise Rehabilitation

Exercise rehabilitation may include mobility exercises, isometric exercises, strengthening, balance, graded lifting, walking or conditioning, return-to-gym exercises, and work- or sport-specific progressions.

The program will be matched to your current ability and gradually progressed according to your response.

The aim is to help you become stronger, more confident and less reliant on passive treatment over time.

WHEN SHOULD YOU SEEK MEDICAL ASSESSMENT?

Seek medical advice if pain is associated with:

  • Significant trauma
  • Progressive weakness
  • Increasing numbness or loss of sensation
  • Loss of bladder or bowel control
  • Fever or feeling systemically unwell
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Severe or rapidly worsening symptoms
  • A suspected fracture
  • Symptoms that feel different from your normal muscular pain
