Pregnancy and childbirth have a profound impact on a woman’s body. Every woman’s experience is different and they deserve a detailed examination of their bodies postpartum so they can return to the right level of activity.

The postpartum check with our Pelvic Physiotherapist, Mandy Roscher can be performed anytime from 6 weeks postpartum. Think of it as a “roadworthiness test” of your body for returning to exercise after birth.

The appointment is an hour in length. It includes a detailed assessment and return to exercise plan.

What does the assessment entail?

What do we assess in the appointment?

  • Your Posture and Biomechanics
  • Presence of Diastasis Rectus Abdominus (the gap you may feel in the middle of your tummy)
  • Pelvic floor Muscles strength and function
  • Presence of or risk of developing Incontinence or Pelvic Organ Prolapse

From the assessment, we will be able to customise a pelvic floor rehabilitation and return to exercise programme for you that is individualised to your unique needs.

It is never too late to have a postpartum check. I sometimes see new grandmothers who come after their daughters have been to see me.
